2/7 We’re lovin’ local: The DePaul Art Museum presents Re:Chicago. The exhibit features work by 40 artists each chosen by a member of the Chicago art world, and invites speculation about who’s famous, who used to be, and who ought to be. The museum is open from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm Mon – Thurs, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm on Fri, and 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sat and Sun. Free admission. Afterwards, head to Nesh for a delicious Mediterranean meal. 935 W Fullerton.
2/8 Join Chicago Magazine for a Night of Discerning Drinking from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Duchamp. Discuss The Discerning Drinker’s Guide to Chicago and take advantage of the Typeset cocktail for $6 (usually $12), courtesy of Duchamp mixologist Kris von Dopek. 2/10 If you’re looking for a night of theater full of star-crossed lovers, power struggles, and rhyming couplets, check out The Improvised Shakespeare Company in which the audience provides ideas for an Elizabethan-style performance. Tickets are $16, and begins at 8:00 pm at the Del Close Theater. Before or after, head to Lucky’s Sandwich Company for a huge sandwich. 3541 N Clark St.
2/11 100% handmade make us 100% in love: Empty Bottle hosts the Handmade Market featuring jewelry, purses, clothing and more from 33 designers. Free admission to the market, which runs from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Get your strength for shopping by heading to Cafe Ballou for a light breakfast and a cup of coffee before hitting up the market. 1035 N Western Ave.
2/12 It feels like we’ve been waiting for this since December. Wait, we have! Dose Market returns from 10:00 am – 4: 00 pm at the River East Center. Score some ah-mazing baked goods from Celestial Kitchens, cheese and gelato from Zingerman’s Creamery, and coffee from Bucktown’s Ipsento, just to name a few. Tickets are $8 in advance online and $10 on the day of the market. 435 E Illinois St. 
2/12 Be My Valentine 2012 Going Stag or coupled up, anyone is welcome to Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation’s Be My Valentine Event, think pink. The Lynn Sage crew will be hosting a brunch at the Ritz Carlton Ballroom. The Foundation is dedicated to funding innovative research for breast cancer diagnosis and prevention. Elevate your awareness and play at this Valentine’s Day brunch bonanza. Tickets are almost sold out, get ‘em here.
