The current team at Blackbird, chef de cuisine David Posey, pastry chef Bryce Caron and mixologist Lynn House, along with Paul Kahan, will be in house for this amazing celebration – a night full of history and food. Food deserts are common in rural and urban areas, as well as low-socioeconomic minority communities.
WHAT: Dessert for Deserts: A Sweet Fundraiser for Fresh Moves -> An evening of sampling desserts from some of the finest bakeries, chocolatiers, restaurants, caterers and pastry chefs in Chicago.
WHERE: Greenhouse Loft (housed in Chicago’s Green Exchange) 2545 W. Diversey.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 28, 2012, 7:00pm VIP reception, 8:00 to 10:00pm general admission. Expect: drinks, entertainment by fig media, and brief remarks from Mari Gallagher – national food desert expert.
WHY: Because you have a sweet tooth & love supporting great causes! Money raised goes to Fresh Moves – a great non-profit with solutions to eliminate food deserts in underserved communities. Awesome things Fresh Moves has done: transformed a donated CTA bus into a mobile produce market, and makes routes selling fruits and vegetables four times a week in North Lawndale and Austin.
